However, I am not very sentimental. I keep old prom dresses for costume value, not for the memories. I don't understand celebrating dating "monthiversaries." It just baffles me.
But, I missed sharing a milestone with you all that makes me quite proud, and reparations must be made.
February 1st was my 1 Year Blogiversary!!!
THANK YOU! This started a silly idea spawned from one too many "You should have your own show/book" comments. I am not sure that I knew exactly what to write for the first month- and well, some days I still have no idea. I didn't think anyone would ever read this except a couple sorority sisters and a handful of friends here in Cincinnati...but it has grown so much beyond that...and you keep coming back for more! (all 7 of you) ;)
I love all of this more than I ever dreamed I would. I have connected with so many amazing people through the blogging community and have had a ton of laughs recounting my dating, drinking, and living without fear of embarrassment misadventures.
To celebrate this milestone and share the memories, I would like (re)share my Top 6 Favorite posts with you!
I hope that you all have enjoyed this past year as much as I have. Gracias. Merci. Danke Shoen. Domo Arigato. I am much obliged!1. Dealbreaker Wednesday: This is a favorite because it is so telling (and usually hilarious) to have this conversation with new friends...you learn a lot. This doesn't make me picky...it just makes me honest. So a guy loves Dave Matthews and dieting? I won't love him. FACT.2. Emo Thursday: Like No One Understands Me: I love this post because it captured a raw moment in my life, and I really opened up. Behind all the sarcasm and dealbreakers and ridiculousness, I am just a Rom Com Julia Roberts character hoping to find love.3. Dating is Like Basketball: March Madness Bracketology: I have a theory about dating...it's like basketball. Before you identify your All Star, you have to develop the full team, including benchwarmers. Last year, I pitted all my gentleman callers against each other in a March Madness style bracket. It was a success! (if you consider success dating someone for a few months before being unceremoniously dumped...)4. So I Quit OKCupid: My foray into online dating may have been more fruitful for the blog than for my real life. BUT, I don't regret a thing - no matter how bad the dates or messages were, I had fun sharing the disasters and hilarity with all of you.5. Shit Men Don't Know About Women: Period pants. Nuff said. There are just some things guys don't understand...and it is oh so hilarious to educate them.6. Wait...What Happened?: It was fun for me to share a bit about life and naivety of being Lil HauteMess...and the realization today that I was a little idiot yesterday! I mean really...Dirty Dancing was a difficult movie to understand, right?
