I Believe in the Audrey in Us All! (especially me) (well, mostly me)

"I believe in manicures. I believe in overdressing. I believe in primping in leisure and wearing lipstick. I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles."
- Audrey Hepburn

Audrey Hepburn has always fascinated me.  She is a woman who turned the role of an immature, self-centered call girl into a timeless icon of style and sophistication.  She truly embodies je ne sais quois. To me, though, it isn't her role in Breakfast at Tiffany's or her role as muse to Givenchy that makes me love her.  It is the exact sentiment in her quote above that I am drawn to.  Something about it makes me want to shout,
"ME TOO!! You get me.  You really get me!"

I LOVE making out...making out is the best! And wearing sequins, even to inappropriate venues, makes me warm inside.  Nothing is less attractive than a miserable person - the ones who constantly complain about how bad their life is or how bored they are. Happiness IS beautiful.  She is why  I am planning to be Miss Holly Golightly for Halloween this year at MoogFest.

Yet, there is so much more that I believe in - so much more that I prescribe to.  So, in my continued effort to be a woman who can party all night and drink champagne before breakfast yet still epitomize grace and beauty, much like Audrey Hepburn's Holly Golightly, I present you with my "I believe" quote:
"I believe in champagne for no reason. I believe my ruby slippers are red patent leather stilettos. I believe funny costumes are far more interesting than slutty ones. I believe red lipstick and a take-no-prisoners attitude WILL be how I meet Mr. Right.  I believe you never truly know who you are until your heart has been broken.  I believe the best accessory is a smile, and the most important quality in a mate is that he makes you smile everyday. I believe every party should have a memorable theme and a memorable toast. I believe that you regret things you didn't do far more than the ones you did. I believe that the best goal in life is to make others' lives better, richer, and more memorable simply because you were there."

  1. Your blog is absolutely fabulous-O! Just like you - I totally relate to Miss Hepburn. Beautiful post - I'm a new follower now!

  2. I was Holly Golightly for Halloween last year. Your basic LBD is key. Followed by long black gloves, a tiara and an obscenely fabulous large pearl necklace. is where to get the long, gold cigarette holder. And Ray Bans. Or imitation ones if you're broke like me. I was actually thinking of resurrecting that costume this year too, but you can have it :-) I'm going Black Swan. Pointe slippers+vodka here I come.

I've been reading your blog for a while and I think you're just great! Keep it up! xoxo

  3. "take-no-prisoners attitude" - That's exactly how I met my mister right. =)

Fantastic post!  And honey, there is absolutely nothing, NOTHING like kissing!

  5. Thanks love! Nothing better than good kissing...nothing worse than bad kissing, too!! :)

  6. Welcome to the madness!!  And thank you so much for the kind words - you are a sweetheart!  Favorite Hepburn movie?  :)

  7.  Thank You!! I, too, want to be Black Swan this year! (i am going to a 3 day music festival over Halloween Weekend so I need multiple costumes) - but I don't have a White Swan...or the hips for a leotard. :) Thanks for the tip!  I think I want to be the just woke up, wearing a sleep mask and man's shirt Holly Golightly! But again, I should probably start my leg workouts now if I plan to reveal so much! :)

  8. Oooh - I need to hear more!

Thanks for the comment love - and the funny blog! :)
